This is part one of a two-part series (10/30 and 11/06) that will provide a basic framework for diving into immigration law. This may be especially helpful for practitioners new to the field, or those who know one or two areas of immigration law but want to get a better understanding of the whole. We will provide a basic framework, where we will discuss the various agencies involved in immigration law, acronyms, the structure of the Act, and an overview of affirmative applications and removal proceedings. We will grapple with the concept of admission and explore selected grounds of inadmissibility and deportability.  Jump in and learn with ILRC attorneys Erin Quinn and Kathy Brady over this two webinar sessions.

Topics:

  • Immigration law basics
  • Major relevant entities and jargon
  • Affirmative application
  • Removal proceedings
