Interested in bankruptcy law but don’t know where to start? Join the Boston Bar Association (BBA) and an expert panel to learn the basics of chapter 7. This program will cover all aspects of representing a consumer debtor in a chapter 7 case: the initial client interview, preparing the petition and schedules, conducting due diligence and avoiding common pitfalls, attending the § 341 meeting, and finally, getting the client their bankruptcy discharge.

At the conclusion of the training, there will be a reception with experienced attorneys who have volunteered to serve as bankruptcy mentors. Attendees of this training are asked to sign up to represent a chapter 7 debtor pro bono through the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) and will be paired with a mentor who will walk you through your first case. It’s a great opportunity to learn a new area of law, make a meaningful professional connection, and help an indigent debtor get debt relief.
