PA Legal Aid Network logoThis workshop is being presented as part of the 2020 Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Virtual Statewide Conference on September 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. The program will be presented on the Zoom platform.

The session will model a virtual law clinic, showcasing how the Dauphin County Bar Association (DCBA) partnered with MidPenn Legal Services and the PA CareerLink Capitol Region to hold an online clinic via Zoom to assist members of the community with driver's license issues.

The purpose of this clinic was to see what community members need to do to have their driver's licenses reinstated. This clinic took place with the assistance of students, paralegals, and volunteer lawyers.

In a private Zoom room, each community member was partnered with one volunteer lawyer, with the possiblity of a student, to remotely access their PennDOT driving records. Once there, the volunteer lawyer was able to highlight the steps needed to reinstate each driver's license. After the volunteer lawyer reviewed the steps, an expert in handling driver's licenses cases also joined the Zoom room to offer any additional suggestions.
