209A Restraining Order Hearings: A Volunteer’s Introduction

October 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

This training, in partnership with BBF Grantee, the Women’s Bar Foundation (WBF), covers the basics of advocating for clients in 209A Abuse Prevention proceedings and equips attorneys with the tools necessary to represent survivors of abuse in restraining order hearings.

You’ll leave with:

  • An overview of 209A law and procedure
  • Advice for preparing and conducting a 209A hearing
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of an abusive relationship
  • Guidance on advocating for survivors of abuse in court

Survivors of domestic abuse often face restraining order hearings without representation, at one of the most vulnerable points in their lives. We encourage all attorneys interested in making a difference for families impacted by domestic abuse to attend this training and volunteer with the WBF.
