Housing Advocacy for Tenants: Summary Process Eviction Defense Training

October 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Interested in advocating for low-income tenants facing eviction? BBF grantee the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) has clients that need your help!

Attend this training and you will leave with a general understanding of the eviction process in Massachusetts. You will also learn the defenses and resources that are available to tenants to prevent or win an eviction case.

After the training, you will have enough knowledge to begin volunteering with VLP’s housing unit and join them in the promotion of access to counsel and justice in the commonwealth. Register today!

Originally created as a pilot project of the Boston Bar Association in 1977, the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association (VLP) works to increase access to justice by delivering high quality pro bono civil legal services to under-represented people in the Greater Boston Area. VLP maximizes accessibility to under-represented clients through frequent legal “clinics” at courthouses and community organizations across the Greater Boston area (currently virtual, in-person, and hybrid), as well as through a legal helpline–the Eastern Region Legal Intake (ERLI)–all of which are provided free of charge. Through these programs, VLP offers legal advice and assistance to eligible clients on topics such as housing, family law, consumer law, and guardianship.
