Join us for a timely and essential training on the evolving landscape of mandatory immigration detention in the wake of the Board of Immigration Appeals’ landmark decisions of Matter of Q. Li and Matter of Yajure Hurtado. In this session, we will:
- Analyze recent caselaw that expands mandatory detention
- Look at how DHS and DOJ are reinterpreting the INA to strip unjustly detained immigrants of the right to bond
- Discuss legal strategies, advocacy approaches, habeas litigation and pending and class litigation challenging the administration’s expansive interpretation and seeking to preserve bond eligibility for thousands of detained noncitizens.
