Health Care Access Programs (April 7, 2016)

Topics:
  • Health Care

This training is designed to help attendees keep abreast of the many recent changes in health coverage eligibility and enrollment affecting people under age 65.

In 2014 major provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act took effect in Massachusetts, changing the landscape of available programs that offer affordable coverage to low and moderate income people. For 2015 the state rolled out a new computer system changing the way people apply for and become enrolled in coverage.

This training is designed to give outreach workers, social workers, providers, and advocates an up-todate nuts-and-bolts overview of the eligibility requirements of the main health care programs administered by MassHealth and the Health Insurance Connector Authority.

Attendees learn how to assist their patients and clients in becoming enrolled and maintaining coverage. It is designed for new advocates as well as experienced advocates looking for a review and update.

Detailed materials are provided covering new topics such as special enrollment periods.
