The USCIS Asylum Office has become overloaded in recent years, with the majority of its resources going toward credible fear, reasonable fear, and unaccompanied alien child (UAC) interviews for children in removal proceedings. Our panel of experts will walk you through the Asylum Office's procedures, as well as the substantive standards with which it reviews the various types of cases under its jurisdiction, and offer practical advice on preparing clients and facilitating adjudication.

  • Lisa R. Green (dl), AILA Asylum & Refugee Liaison Committee Co-Chair, Boulder, CO
    Lisa R. Green is a partner at Green and Gardner, LLC in Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Green has been practicing immigration law since 1988. She is on the faculty of the University of Colorado College of Law. Ms. Green is a co-chair of the AILA Asylum and Refugee Liaison Committee and serves as chair on the AILA Colorado Asylum Liaison Committee. She lectures nationally on asylum law.
  • Garry Davis Jr., Dallas, TX
    Garry Davis Jr., practices immigration law exclusively. His expertise encompasses all areas of immigration law, with special focus on deportation defense, employment immigration, investment immigration, family immigration, appeals and federal court litigation.     Paul O'Dwyer represents clients before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, immigration courts, and federal district courts, and courts of appeals. He has successfully represented hundreds of individuals in asylum hearings at asylum offices, immigration courts and in federal court. Mr. O'Dwyer also litigates other immigration matters in the immigration courts and in federal court, including re-opening cases with prior deportation orders, applications for special immigrant status, cancellation of removal, and waivers of inadmissibility. He frequently writes articles and speaks at seminars on immigration law, and provides training for other immigration attorneys on a regular basis.
