Substantive training will be provided on the debt collection industry, common defenses to consumer debt collection suits, and litigating affirmative claims in these cases. Practical training will be provided on how to represent a low-income debtor in the Boston Municipal Court and District Court. This training will allow attendees to review common paperwork submitted by debt collectors to prove their case, and how to investigate defenses and claims based on that evidence. This training is for practitioners of all experience levels as well as law students.
