This is an educational program for lawyers on current developments in the areas of military and veterans’ law. This program will focus on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), including an overview of the Department of Labor’s and the Department of Justice’s USERRA enforcement, and hot topics in USERRA law focusing on the statute’s reemployment, discrimination, and pension related provisions.
This session will also provide an overview of National Guard duty statuses and how various federal laws and protections, such as USERRA, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), and other federal laws apply to National Guard members in each duty status.

 

This program is designed for military attorneys working in legal assistance as well as civilian lawyers whose practices involve military-connected clients or issues.
