The National Center for Medical Legal Partnership (NCMLP) is hosting a program entitled Eviction Crisis Virtual Town Hall: Eliminating the Existential Threat to our Recovery on June 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM Eastern.

Even as efforts to vaccinate, unmask, and return to normalcy continue, the overwhelming possibility of large-scale evictions remains an imminent threat to our pandemic response and recovery efforts. The eviction crisis is still here and the future of our country – health systems, economy, social safety nets, access to justice, and our democracy – depends on us collaborating to amass every resource at our disposal to eliminate this threat right now, from every angle, and with prevention as the end goal.

The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP) has joined forces with the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and the Network for Public Health Law to convene a panel of national experts to host a virtual town hall discussion with a multidisciplinary audience from around the country. Also partnering on this event are the National Health Care for the Homeless Council, National Center for Health in Public Housing, and the Corporation for Supportive Housing. The progran is going to call out the threats and identify actions for us to take now on our road to a full and equitable recovery.

NPR National Desk Correspondent Pam Fessler will be moderating a lively discussion with a panel of leading national experts including:

  • Emily A. Benfer, JD, LLM of Wake Forest Law
  • Jenifer Bosco, JD of the National Consumer Law Center
  • Peter Kahn, MD, MPH, ThM of Yale School of Medicine
  • Kerri McGowan Lowrey, JD, MPH of the Network for Public Health Law
  • Osarugue Grace Osa-Edoh, JD of Community Legal Services of Philadelphia
  • Diane Yentel, MSW of the National Low Income Housing Coalition

Introductory remarks will be provided by NCMLP and its partners.
