District Court Lawyer for a Day provides assistance to litigants with civil District Court cases by providing guidance and advice, locating self-help resources and identifying the issues they may be facing. There is no court time associated with this program. This program is held virtually over zoom.  HCLC staff or law students assist volunteers in completing attorney feedback forms so all you have to do is give the advice. HCLC staff pre-screens all participants. The types of issues covered in this program are small claims, supplementary process, summary process/eviction, civil motor vehicle infraction, civil harassment, criminal/application for show cause and all other general civil questions. Volunteers do problem-solving, guide the consumers with forms and provide legal advice on civil issues. If interested please complete survey here or contact the Hampden County Legal Clinic at legalclinic@hcbar.org.
