Worcester District Court Small Claims Lawyer for the Day (Virutal)

Organization: Community Legal Aid (CLA)

Community Legal Aid (CLA) and the Worcester County Bar Association (WCBA) sponsor this remote Lawyer for the Day program weekly during the Small Claims Session of the Worcester District Court via the Court Zoom Room.

When: Tuesdays via Zoom

Shifts: 8:45am-11:45am

Time Commitment: ~1-3 hours

How it works: Volunteers provide limited assistance representation to low-income debtors during the Small Claims Session of the Worcester District Court. A CLA Pro Bono Coordinator conducts the initial eligibility screening in a break-out room. Volunteers then provide counsel and advice to eligible litigants, assist with settlement negotiations with the creditors' representatives, and advocate for the client's position in court.
