Eastern Housing Court Lawyer for the Day (reviewed 2024)

Organization: Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association (VLP)

This project is a collaboration between the Boston Bar Association, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, Greater Boston Legal Services, and the WilmerHale Legal Services Center.

Housing Court Lawyer for the Day helps low-income tenants and landlords with housing issues.

Because this project is a Limited Assistance Representation (LAR) project, the attorney should have completed a do-it-yourself LAR training consisting of written materials and a video or live training. Click here for links to LAR training materials and forms.

NEW: There's a free interactive online course to help volunteer lawyers learn the basics of Massachusetts eviction law and procedure. It is recommended that you take this course in conjunction with additional substantive law trainings and mentoring programs offered by VLP and other programs that sponsor Housing Court Lawyers for the Day Programs.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project provides primary malpractice insurance for all pro bono work done under this project.
