Remote Civil Appeals Clinic

Organization: Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association (VLP)

Note: This clinic is running remotely for the foreseeable future.

Hosted by VLP and The Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCO), the Civil Appeals Clinic helps low-income, self-represented litigants interested in filing an appeal. Clients with questions about filing an appeal receive help and advice from pro bono attorneys.

How the Virtual Civil Appeals Clinic Works: Client reach out to VLP for help with appeals questions. The client is scheduled for the next available clinic. Before the day an attorney is scheduled to volunteer at the clinic, they will receive training materials, a guide for providing remote pro bono support, and information on contacting the clinic's supervising attorney.

Virtual clinics are usually every other Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

The clinic runs on a rotating schedule with participating firms and non-firm volunteers staffing assigned days. Volunteers will be provided with training materials prior to their scheduled volunteer day.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project provides primary malpractice insurance for all pro bono work done under this project.
